TIL: .files in Windows Explorer

Ok, so this was actually a couple of days ago, but I’ve just got round to posting it now.

Until recently I didn’t think windows allowed you to create files or folders starting with a .  E.g. .gitignore , so used to create such files using either a competent editor or command line. (Often when renaming one of GitHub’s premade gitignore files for various languages and editors.

Turns out, that these can be created by appending an additional .  to the end of the name: .gitignore.
